In November ukactive released research figures showing that around half (49%) of children aged 7 to 14 want to be fit and healthy as they grow into adulthood, ad a similar proportion (48%) say they believe it is “important to keep physically active to be healthy”. The researchers interpret this as CYP “demonstrating a mature awareness of personal health and wellbeing”.
The information supports new guidance from ukactive, titled, ‘Children and Young People in Gym and Group Exercise Facilities’ – part of their strategy to get a million more CYP active by 2030.
Among the initiatives, ukactive is establishing a new partnership with the Greater London Authority which aims to strengthen the connections with schools and fitness and leisure providers.
