Three-quarters of GOGA attendees have sustained activity levels

London Sport

Launched in 2016, Get Out Get Active (GOGA) set out to reach those least likely to take part in activity, bringing people with and without disabilities together to be active in inclusive, welcoming environments.

What began as a programme of local activities has grown into a UK-wide approach, with over 58,000 participants taking part in 3,510 sessions so far, supported by 4,490 volunteers.

The latest impact report highlights its significant outcomes:

  • Reaching inactive people and sustaining change: Nearly half of participants (47%) were inactive on joining. GOGA has supported four-in-five (81%) to increase their physical activity, and three-quarters (74%) have sustained those activity levels beyond the programme
  • Improving wellbeing and quality of life: Nine-in-ten (92%) participants reported improved mental wellbeing, and 77% said they felt better about their life as a direct result of GOGA involvement
  • Building stronger, inclusive communities: Over three-quarters (78%) of non-disabled participants and nearly two-thirds (65%) of disabled participants reported being more involved in their local community thanks to GOGA. The programme also leads by example, with 28% of its volunteers living with an impairment or long-term health condition.
  • For every £1 invested, GOGA generates £4.60 in social, environmental and economic value – including £3.70 in wellbeing benefits.
