State of Life, working with StreetGames have shared findings from their work to understand the social value of activities provided to children and young people in low-income and under-served areas.
- CYP who face more inequalities tend to be less active than their peers from other backgrounds
- They also appear to gain less benefit (e.g. enjoyment) from increasing their activity levels
- They estimate that the social cost of inequality for young people is around £1.4 billion each year
- There was also evidence that wellbeing may continue to increase with sustained participation
