This report considers the current state of the UK Sport and Physical Activity workforce following the pandemic and future skill requirements.

It considers the post-COVID labour market; the sport and physical activity workforce has not completely recovered from the impact of COVID, some specialist roles like sports coaches have seen a return to similar levels before the pandemic, but other supporting roles like bar staff have not yet fully recovered. Furthermore the sports and physical activity workforce is less diverse in terms of gender, disability, age and cultural diversity compared to the wider workforce, but they are more likely to be from a lower socio-economic group. The skills required for these roles are more generic transferrable skills rather than sport-specific.
