New official statistics show that 80% of households in England have access to green or blue spaces within a 15 minutes walk (roughly 1km).
The figure is higher for rural households (91%), and lower for urban households (78%).
At a Local Area District level the maps show how London is different.
Several London borough averages fall below the 50% of households mark – including Harrow, City of London, and Croydon.
We have previously also flagged how access to private garden space is also lower in London than the GB average. 1-in-8 households in GB have no access to a private or shared garden. The figure rises to 1-in-5 households in London.
