This report focuses on the usage of the Douglas Eyre Sports Centre (DESC) in Walthamstow between April 2014 - March 2015. The playing pitches at DESC have been owned and managed by London Playing Fields Foundation (LPFF), but are under threat of development and so this report was written to demonstrate the sporting value of the facility and playing pitches in cost-saving terms. This was comissioned by Substance, using the Sportworks valuation model. The DESC was used by 38,843 people in 2014/15 and the ATP was used during 93% of available slots at peak times during the football season. It's strong partnership with the FA, local schools and community groups provided an educational strand as well. LPFF stands out from other County Playing Fields Associations as it develops sports and delivers projects rather than just providing advice. Grass Pitch income covered only 23% of the centre's running costs in 2013/14. The minimum value of activity involving young people at DESC was £4,805,928 April 2014-March 2015 through its impact on crime, education, employment and health outcomes.
