In line with University Mental Health Day 2017, BUCS published a University Sport & Mental Health resource in order to increase knowledge of student mental health, develop understanding of how sport programmes can help and share best practice between universities. Created with Student Minds, the resource details the serious need for more interventions. With 1 in 4 experiencing a mental health difficulty each year and most lifetime mental health difficulties developed by the age of 24, further education is key to supporting vulnerable young adults. Various diagnosis is described, linking behaviour, physical appearance and mood as well as the challenges faced with each condition. Successful club committee initiatives are explained in order to make all programmes accessible and empower staff and student to tackle the stigma associated with mental health.
