This report by Richmond group of Charities provides a discussion of the different ways the sport and physical activity sector can make a difference and help people with long term health conditions be more active. The report promotes a change in the ways the sport and physical sector manage and deal with long term health conditions through improving accessibility, enhancing inclusivity of messages, prioritising inclusive physical activity and increasing engagement and knowledge. Using secondary data, they found that 57% of people fear activity will make their condition worse. They also find that 27.9% of disabled adults reported being limited in leisure activities, compared to 2.8% of non-disabled adults in the same study.

The report provides a summary of essential information about physical activity and long-term health conditions and an outline of why it’s important for the sport and physical activity sector to engage with and support more people with long term health conditions to increase their physical activity. Lastly, they include resources and case studies with more information and inspiration for good practice.
