The Sport and Recreation Alliance has published its new strategy outlining its ambition to create a vibrant sport and recreation sector. The strategy, which will run through to 2021, is heavily focused on grassroots sport. It is built on eight principles and includes an ambition to encourage more people from under-represented groups into sport and recreation, including as participants, volunteers or spectators. The Alliance will be focusing on work to demonstrate the economic and social value of sport and recreation, improve access to sport and recreation for young people, as well as providing a greater focus on the role of volunteering in the sector. It will continue to act as the independent, collective voice of the sport and recreation sector with Government, policy makers, the media and wider public.
