This report addresses that, despite improving acceptance of lesbian, gay and bisexual people, the sporting culture has not seen the same progress observed in broader society,  with many studies showing that homophobia and discrimination are commonly experience by athletes and fans alike. This study provides a starting point to address homophobia in sport. Participants of all sexualities were asked their perspective, with an overwhelming majority believing that change needs to start at grassroots level to change behaviour in youth sport. Participants also stated that change needs to come from top level leadership, through action from government and sporting organisations responsible for overseeing and managing sporting culture.
